RP Rules
Core Rules
Player Character Control
You only control your own player character.
You may describe an attempted action directed at another player's character, but the outcome is always decided by that player. If both players agree, a roll may be used to resolve the outcome.
Consent
Roleplay must always remain consensual.
Any scene involving conflict, coercion, or similarly sensitive subject matter must respect the boundaries of the other participants at all times.
Respect for Active Quests
If you wish to roleplay during an active quest, you must first confirm that the DM allows it.
If the DM does not allow roleplay during that session, the roleplay must stop immediately.
Content Standards
All roleplay must follow server rules first and Discord Terms of Service at all times.
If staff identify content that breaks these rules, the offending thread may be removed immediately. The first incident will receive one warning. Any further action will be determined by Staff and Admins.
NPC Roleplay
If you are roleplaying as an NPC, you may claim RP rewards on one of your PCs involved in that space.
Restrictions:
- You may only assign NPC RP rewards to one PC.
- You may not claim those rewards again for the same RP on another character.
- You may not claim NPC RP rewards more than once for the same scene.
RP Rewards
Roleplay rewards are worth one-third of the rewards granted for participating in a quest.
Use the Rewards of Altharion calculator to determine the appropriate XP and gold.
Reward Timing
For reward purposes, an RP is considered active as long as no more than one hour passes in real time between messages.
If one hour or more passes after the most recent message, that RP is considered concluded for reward calculation. The same scene may continue afterward, but reward timing begins again from that point forward.
Applying Rewards
After calculating rewards, each participant may add the listed gold and XP to the relevant character.
When doing so, include:
- a link to the start of the RP
- the duration of the RP in the reward description
Combat Roleplay
Combat-focused roleplay, including roleplay that uses Avrae initiative tracking, is allowed.
However, RP combat does not consume resources for reward purposes. No consumables are expended, and characters cannot be permanently killed through RP combat alone. At worst, a character is knocked unconscious.
